Planning Your Perfect Elopement in Michigan: Everything You Need to Know

Are you dreaming of a simple, intimate wedding that focuses on your love story without the stress of a big ceremony? If so, an elopement might be perfect for you! Michigan offers countless beautiful locations and services to make your special day unforgettable. In this blog, we’ll dive into topics like elopement packages in Michigan, wedding ministers in Clarkston, Holly, and Fenton, sign-and-go wedding services, and answer questions like “What does a wedding officiant do?” and “How do I plan an elopement in Michigan?”.
Why Choose an Elopement?Elopements have become increasingly popular for couples seeking a stress-free way to tie the knot. Whether you’re envisioning an outdoor ceremony overlooking Lake Michigan or an intimate gathering in a cozy venue, elopements allow you to focus on what truly matters—your commitment to each other.

But planning an elopement doesn’t mean skipping out on meaningful details. With the right services, you can still have a beautiful and memorable experience, tailored to your needs.

What Does a Wedding Officiant Do?A wedding officiant plays a crucial role in your elopement. They are the person who legally performs your marriage and ensures your ceremony is personal and meaningful. Here’s what they typically handle:
  • Guiding you through the ceremony structure.
  • Helping you incorporate vows, readings, or traditions.
  • Filing the marriage license to make everything official.
In Michigan, many officiants also offer customized services, from formal ceremonies to quick sign-and-go wedding options.

Sign-and-Go Wedding Services: What Are They?If you’re looking for the simplest way to get married, sign-and-go wedding services might be just what you need. These services allow couples to legally wed without the formalities of a traditional ceremony. It’s as easy as signing your marriage license with a wedding minister like me, Nichole Bertucci and walking out as newlyweds!
This option is perfect for couples who want a no-fuss, quick, and budget-friendly approach to their marriage.

Elopement Packages in Michigan
Michigan is a fantastic place for an elopement, offering everything from stunning lakeside vistas to charming small towns. To make the process seamless, many wedding professionals offer elopement packages tailored to your needs.
Packages often include:
  • Venue recommendations (think picturesque parks, beaches, or rustic barns).
  • A wedding officiant to perform the ceremony.
  • Photography services to capture your special day.
  • Assistance with obtaining and filing your marriage license.
When exploring elopement packages in Michigan, be sure to ask about customization options so you can create a day that’s uniquely yours.

The Sign and Go Package: Simple, Quick, and Just the Essentials
When it comes to getting married, not everyone wants a full ceremony or a day filled with traditional wedding events. Sometimes, all that’s needed is a simple, straightforward service to make it official. That’s where the Sign and Go package comes in—a perfect option for couples who want to be legally married without the extras.

What is the Sign and Go Package? The Sign and Go is a no-fuss, no-ceremony package designed for couples who are ready to make it official with just the essentials. With this package, we meet at a designated location, sign the marriage license, and it’s done! There’s no ceremony, no exchange of vows, and no additional planning required—just the legally binding signature to mark the start of your marriage.

This service is ideal for couples who may be planning a larger celebration down the road, those who want a quick and easy way to be legally married, or couples who prefer a private, minimalistic approach to tying the knot. If you're looking to keep things simple and focused, the Sign and Go is exactly what you need.

Why Choose the Sign and Go Package?Sometimes, simplicity is key. The Sign and Go package is about the basics—getting legally married without all the extras. Here are some reasons couples love this option:
  • Quick and Easy: This package is efficient and straightforward, so there’s no need to schedule a lengthy event or plan around multiple details. It’s perfect for busy couples or those who prefer a streamlined experience.
  • No Ceremonial Pressure: For couples who feel anxious about a big ceremony or who simply prefer not to have one, this package lets you skip the formality and still be legally married. It’s a stress-free option focused on what matters: your commitment to each other.
  • Flexible and Convenient: We meet in a convenient location, sign the license, and that’s it! This flexibility allows you to fit the signing into your schedule with ease, saving time and effort.
What to Expect with the Sign and GoThe Sign and Go package is simple from start to finish. Once you book, we’ll confirm a date and place to meet. On the day, bring your marriage license, and we’ll handle the signing process together. Afterward, I’ll ensure the license is filed with the county as required. In just a few minutes, you’ll be legally married without any additional steps or planning.

This package is all about ease and simplicity—no attire requirements, no ceremony setup, and no guests needed. It’s just a quick signing, followed by a heartfelt congratulations on your new life together.

Is the Sign and Go Package Right for You?If you’re seeking a low-key, practical way to get married, the Sign and Go package might be the perfect fit. Couples who choose this option value the simplicity of the process and appreciate being able to focus on the legal aspect of marriage without the extra details of a ceremony.

Justice of the peace wedding in Michigan

How to host a justice of the peace wedding in Michigan, with A Simple I Do wedding officiants it's a very simple process.

Choosing to keep your wedding ceremony cost effective, stress free and simple can be done when choosing a justice of the peace style wedding. You may be asking, what exactly is a justice of the peace anyway, let me explain.

When you search for a justice of the peace for your wedding ceremony you may be looking for a court house wedding, a person who is not affiliated with a religion to perform your wedding ceremony or a simple way to get married in Michigan. Any and all of these thing are true for justice of the peace weddings.

Justice of the peace (JP) is a title for a public officer authorized to preside over a local court of limited jurisdiction, referred to as a court of a justice of the peace. A justice of the peace is sometimes referred to as a “lay judge”, as many jurisdictions do not require JPs to be qualified lawyers. Some folks will think justice of the peace is having a judge perform your ceremony and while it certainly is, it can also lead you to a wedding officiant like me.

Hi, I'm Nichole, owner of A Simple I Do Wedding Officiants. We are a group of wedding officiants who perform wedding ceremonies in southeast Michigan.

We aim to keep things as efficient and simple for you as possible. We are non denominational, meaning we can roll with any religion or no religion. We serve you as the couple first and that means we will work with whatever your desire is for your wedding ceremony.

We offer wedding packages that are the basic and simple signing of your marriage license, our simple sign and I do - much like a courthouse wedding, this includes signing your marriage license and then exchanging vows and rings, we also do tiny wedding for around 20 guests and full weddings at big beautiful venues.

Our motto is "all love deserves to be celebrated". Reach out to us to talk all things justice of the peace weddings and more.
