Marriage 101 - Kiss me!

Sometimes we can get so comfortable in our marriage that days will go by without a simple kiss. It doesn't mean that you're angry with each other. It's just the day by day life can get comfortable and we forget the simple act of a kiss can be so reassuring or comforting or beautiful.

Remember to kiss your partner every now and then - without any expectations. A kiss and a hug is a beautiful gesture of love and kindness. It lets them know you're thinking of them, that you see them and that you love them.

Its a simple kiss but it's necessary!

Justice of the Peace - Alternative

A lot of folks looking to get married search the words Justice of the Peace on google. Justice of the Peace means Judge or person who can legally perform a marriage ceremony. Some folks will search wedding Officiant, wedding Minister, Wedding Chapel not really understanding what or who they need present to make their marriage legal. A lot of these folks enter their search thinking they want a simple court house wedding only to learn that 1. either court houses no longer offer these services or 2. there is a very long wait time to secure a court house wedding.

This is where I, Nichole Bertucci can offer you an alternative to a court house wedding to a Justice of the Peace. As an ordained Officiant I offer wedding ceremony services that are similar, dare I say even better than the courthouse wedding you had succumbed to having.
My wedding day packages start with a very simple signing of the marriage license. For the signing of the marriage license we set an appointment date and time and meet at a local coffee shop or bakery where I will complete the marriage license and then instruct everyone else where to sign and then right there at the table I offer a simple vow exchange, you say “I do” and then I can pronounce you as married. Monday through Wednesday 10am to 1pm $75. I say, make a day of it! Let’s meet, sign and then you can celebrate over brunch or lunch.

The other package I offer is an elopement package. We can find the perfect spot for your wedding ceremony, I have a few favorite spots I can share with you, most of which are free. You can invite up to 20 guests and together we’ll draft a lovely wedding ceremony. On your wedding day I will perform the wedding ceremony and then sign the marriage license with you to make it legal. $250 anytime.

Remember the courthouse is not the only answer if you are searching for a simple, peaceful and easy wedding day.

how to apply for your marriage license

How to apply for your marriage license

Did you know you need a license to get legally married in the state of Michigan? You do! In order to legally get married in the state of Michigan you are required to apply for a marriage license. Allow me to explain how to do apply for your marriage license.

You will begin at your local county clerk's office. What county do you reside in and is represented on your drivers license or residency; this is the county clerk's office you will apply for your marriage license with.

If you live out of state and are coming to Michigan to get married than you will apply with the county clerk's office in which your ceremony will take place.

  1. Visit your county clerk's website for their specific instructions on how to apply for your Marriage license. With covid each county altered the way they issue marriage license's. Some are requiring you to complete your marriage license application online and then make an appointment to pick it up. Some counties are allowing you to simply walk in and apply. Once you have determined your counties marriage license application process you will need to gather your information to go with the license.
  2. Most county clerk's offices require you to show picture ID, drivers license and your original birth certificate or certified copy of the original and/or a passport for each person applying.

Couple things to keep in mind:
  • YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE IS VALID FOR 33 DAYS FROM DATE OF APPLICATION
  • You will receive multiple copies of your marriage license - all of these need to be signed
  • You need an Officiant to sign your marriage license. This person is ordained and able to perform your ceremony and make your marriage legal.
  • Once your marriage license is signed it must be returned to the clerk's office within 10 days for filing by your Officiant.
  • You must request a certified legal copy of your marriage license after your marriage. It does not come automatically to you. You can request this by visiting the same clerk's office that issued the license to you. Please wait 2 weeks after your wedding to request this certified legal copy.

Get married in Detroit at the Coffee Shop - $75

My goal is to serve every couple in a manner that fit's them best and the public has spoken. I am happy to offer the coffee shop signing in downtown Detroit for the same price of $75. That's right, you can get married in downtown Detroit for only $75!

My coffee shop signings are the simplest form of getting legally married I can offer and up until now I've been meeting in downtown Holly exclusively. But with the warmer weather on the horizon and couples asking to meet elsewhere - hello gas prices!! yikes! I am happy to say the first Thursday of the month I will offer appointments for the coffee shop signing at Dessert Oasis Coffee in downtown Detroit.

Complete the form on my website Booking and we'll schedule your appointment to make it legal! We will meet at the coffee shop, the two of you and your two witnesses only and complete the marriage license and right there at the table I will ask "do you promise to continue to love each other, to be honest and faithful all your days together?" you say "we do" and I pronounce you married!

Don't forget to apply for and obtain your marriage license.

Meet me in downtown Holly, Michigan for
A Simple I Do wedding. As an alternative to a courthouse wedding or justice of the peace I offer a simple signing wedding service.

Signing - Let's meet at the local coffee shop in downtown Holly where we can sign our marriage license and say a simple informal "I do" to make it legal. This is the quickest, most simple form of making your marriage legal I can offer.

What to do: Apply for and obtain your marriage license, grab two people over 18 to bring with you to serve as your witnesses and schedule an appointment to meet with me.

At our appointment I will complete your marriage license, direct everyone where to sign and then simply ask you "you have come here with the intention to marry, do you promise to keep loving each other, do be faithful and committed in your marriage?" you say "we do" and I pronounce you married!

Fee: $75 if we meet Monday through Wednesday 10am to 1pm. Anytime outside of this is $125.

When all. you need is a simple I do, email me and I will make it happen!
