Downtown Pontiac offers a new look at rentable spaces

LMP Collective in downtown Pontiac Michigan "Launched in 2020, lmp collective is a collaborative space for creative professionals from all over Michigan. Located in the Riker Building in the heart of downtown Pontiac, our space offers two beautiful studios, coworking space, private offices, lounges, conference rooms, and a variety of events.

At lmp collective, we are focused on growing a community of like-minded, creative professionals in a beautiful space where we can all thrive. Please let us know what we can do to improve your experience." (www.lmpcollectivestudio.com)

I offer you this take on this rentable loft style ground floor space - host a small elopement/intimate wedding ceremony. The space is available for a minimum of a 2 hour rental at $300 - you can keep it simple and bring in a few chairs to create the perfect aisle, hire a professional photographer (like those housed within) and get married! Or contact them directly to inquire about the possibilities of bringing in a few tables or food and beverages.

I see this as the perfect winter elopement space - the huge windows let in so much light and the space is beautiful as is, no need to pay for and bring in decorations.

Host your perfect elopement/intimate wedding at LMP Collective in downtown Pontiac, oh and hire us to be your Officiants, duh!

Kari Dawson - Photographer -while I did not perform this wedding I will say Kari is an awesome photographer and person.
YOU GUYS!! So you want a courthouse wedding but can't get into the court house or really want a great personal ceremony but in a courthouse? Let's make this happen!

I get it, you've called the local courthouse to schedule your wedding only to find out there is a waitlist, months long or they no longer perform weddings or even worse you had a wedding scheduled but then canceled because the Judge is busy! Your courthouse wedding can still happen and we can make it even more wonderful than you imagined. We will draft a custom personal ceremony and edit it with you to assure it's perfect for your wedding day and then let's gather your favorite people and meet at the Lapeer Historical Courthouse and get you married in that courthouse style you wanted.

drumroll please....LAPEER COUNTY HISTORICAL COURTHOUSE!

Let me start with the good google - you can totally use the lawn or porch for free!! Just be aware that you may not be the only one with this idea and if you really want private use of the inside and outside then you can rent it...for cheap!

HERE'S THE RENTAL INFORMATION

Michigan's oldest operating courthouse is available for weddings and other special events.  The Lapeer County Historic Courthouse has been a part of its citizen's lives since the county's earliest days.  Make it a part of your family's history by holding your wedding in it's historic chambers. The Historic Courthouse is available both on weekdays and weekends.  It is advised that you make your reservations at least two weeks in advance.  The Historic Courthouse may not always be available without advance registration.  Weddings held on weekends or after hours must be scheduled five days in advance.
You may choose to have your ceremony on the Historic Courthouse lawn or porch steps.  There are no special requirements for using the public space outside of the building; however, it is always best to check with Building and Grounds to be sure that no other events are scheduled for the same time.
You may make a reservation for the use of the Historic Courthouse through the Lapeer County Building and Grounds/Parks Department. A registration form is required, and a Waiver of Liability form must also be signed. Cost for use is $100 per hour with a two-hour minimum ($200) along with a $100 refundable cleaning deposit. Cleaning deposit will be refunded or can be donated for a brick paver with your wedding date on it. Pavers are installed on the paver walkway in front of the building. All monies go towards the Historic Courthouse Restoration Fund.
The Registration Form and Waiver of Liability can be mailed along with payment to: Lapeer County Building and Grounds Department, 255 Clay Street, Lapeer, Michigan 48446.  For questions or more information, contact the Department of Building and Grounds at (810) 245-4794.
 Who will perform the ceremony?

3 tips to book the perfect elopement for you!

Photographer: Monnette.co
Elopements are simple easy breezy wedding's that are meant for a smaller group. You don't have to run away in secrecy but you certainly can if you wish. Here's our 3 tips to book the perfect elopement for you.
  1. PICK THE TRIBE: DECIDE IF IT'S JUST THE TWO OF YOU OR A FEW CLOSE FAMILY AND FRIENDS ALSO. It's not easy but first deciding if you want it to e just the two of you or if you would also like to invite a few close family and friends is important. It will help decide where you will do this elopement and the date and time and support needed to pull it off.
  2. PICK THE VIBE: PICK A LOCATION THAT REFLECTS WHO YOU ARE AS A COUPLE. Do you like the city life or is a walk in the park where it's at for you? You can elope anywhere so be sure to pick the best spot for you, so that when you look back at photos you see it was the perfect reflection of the two of you at that time in your lives.
  3. SHARE YOUR LOVE: WRITE YOUR OWN VOWS. I can't say this enough, if you truly want your elopement to be perfect for you then we encourage you to write your own wedding vows. No one knows your love like you do. Don't over think it, just put pen to paper and write down why you love this person and why you chose them to be your life partner and maybe a little bit about what you look forward to and a few promises.
There you have it, pick the tribe, pick the vibe and share your love in words. Your sweet little elopement can be magical and stress free and easy. We love getting your emails to talk about your elopement but sometimes a quick call is in order so we can truly understand your vision for your elopement and help you plan the best elopement for you.

And if I could add a number 4 it would be....HIRE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER to capture your elopement moment.

How to apply for a marriage license in the state of Michigan

Did you know if you want to be legally married you must first apply for and obtain a marriage license from your local county clerk's office? I know! So many couples don't even realize that step one of getting married is apply for your marriage license. Let's dive into how to apply for a marriage license in the state of Michigan.

First you will want to apply at the county clerk's office of the county you reside in. If you live in two different counties than you choose which county office to apply at, it does not matter.
  • If you live out of state and are getting married in Michigan you will utilize the county clerk's office for the county you are holding your wedding in.

Each county clerk office has different application processes for marriage license, but most of them go something like this...
  • Complete the marriage application online
  • Make an appointment to go into the clerk's office to pick up your marriage license

Items you may need to bring with you to get that marriage license: The following is required of both parties:
  •  Valid driver's license or state ID showing current address.
  •  Birth certificate or valid passport.  If passport is used instead of birth certificate, full names of both parents and the state or country where they were born must be provided at time of application. - some counties require the birth certificate.
  •  Social Security numbers of both parties pursuant to MCL 551.102.

Remember your marriage license is only valid for 30 days as of the date of issuance, yes, it does expire!

Also, now that you have that marriage license in hand you'll need an Officiant to sign the marriage license as well as two witnesses over 18 years old.
