Eloping is a general term used for a small intimate wedding, in the state of Michigan you must have at least the two of you and two witnesses, over 18 years old present to get legally married.

So whether you are truly eloping or hosting an intimate wedding there are a few things to plan for and keep in mind. Let's start at the beginning.
  • You'll need to decide on a location and date; you can think of eloping at a local park to keep it free for your wedding location or you can even rent a beautiful venue to host your small intimate ceremony. Thinking outside the box when it comes to location is key. Any pretty spot citywide or parkside can be perfect for you.
  • The Date - the great thing about eloping is that if you choose a weekday or middle of day time it's less likely to over populated so keeping your quiet and intimate wedding day vibe is more likely. It's important to think about the time of year you would like to elope, in Michigan the weather is so tricky so be prepared for that seasons weather swings.
  • Once you've nailed down the location and date or at least month then it's time to reach out to wedding vendors. You will need at minimum a legally ordained wedding officiant to meet with you to sign your marriage license and perform the ceremony. Other vendors could include a florist, photographer, videographer and catering for a sweet treat or full meal.
  • Now that you've nailed down the details for your elopement or intimate wedding you'll need to apply for your marriage license with your local clerks office. Remember your marriage license does have an expiration date so apply in the correct time frame.
  • Now introducing our private studio options. We have 3 unique studios that you may choose to rent to host your private elopement = inquire below for more details.

Oakland County Intimate Weddings: Crafting Your Perfect Day with Nichole Bertucci of A Simple I Do Wedding Officiants

In the realm of intimate weddings and elopements in Oakland County, Michigan, the term "elope" often refers to a small, intimate affair requiring at least the couple and two witnesses over 18 years old to legally tie the knot.

Whether you're envisioning a true elopement or planning an intimate gathering, there's a roadmap to follow and important considerations to keep in mind. Let's delve into the essentials.
Choosing the right location and date stands as the initial step. For those contemplating elopement, local parks offer a budget-friendly backdrop, while renting a charming venue might cater to those seeking a touch of elegance. Oakland County boasts several picturesque spots, whether within the city or nestled in serene park settings, ideal for your special day.

Regarding the date, the beauty of elopements lies in the flexibility they offer. Opting for a weekday or midday celebration reduces the chances of overcrowding, preserving the intimate ambiance. Factor in Michigan's unpredictable weather when selecting your ideal time of year to exchange vows.

Once the location and date—or at least the month—are settled, it's time to engage wedding vendors. Securing a legally ordained wedding officiant, like Nichole Bertucci of A Simple I Do, is a necessity for signing the marriage license and conducting the ceremony. Additionally, consider enlisting a florist, photographer, videographer, and catering services, whether for delectable treats or a complete meal, to elevate your intimate affair.

Before diving into the joyous celebration, remember to apply for your marriage license through the local clerk's office within the appropriate timeframe, considering its expiration date.

At A Simple I Do, our mission revolves around honoring your wedding vision while maintaining simplicity and cost-effectiveness. Nichole Bertucci, our dedicated owner, strives to create the perfect day in line with your desires for an intimate Oakland County wedding.

Location, location, location! I specialize in small weddings I do around 200 intimate or elopement weddings a year and let me tell you they are magic. I absolutely love smaller wedding ceremonies because the focus is on you, the couple and your love.

The stress is almost not existent in a small wedding ceremony because there is little to do, everything is optional. You can dress up or dress down, you can bring flowers or none. Your intimate wedding can be anything you dream of.

A lot of couples struggle when it comes to where to host their small or intimate or elopement wedding ceremony and I have the perfect option!

Our private studio space is perfection, it is a large studio with white walls and amazing windows to let in all that natural light and there are always eclectic seating options and props that allow you to spice up your photos.

At our private studio, you also have access to the rooftop for photos or even a ceremony if the weather is agreeable. The building itself had many cute spots for photos after your wedding ceremony.

And the price is just right! for a one hour rental; the time is perfect, show up, perform the 15 minute ceremony and signing and then take pictures or share a first dance or even just mingle and enjoy the time with your guests before heading off to celebrate over dinner, lunch or brunch if you wish.
