Looking for a Courthouse Wedding in Oakland County? Here’s a Simpler Weekday Alternative

If you have been searching “courthouse wedding near me,” you probably are not looking for a year of planning, a ballroom, or a giant guest list. You want to get legally married, keep the process affordable, and find someone who can help you make it happen soon.

Here is the good news: an Oakland County courthouse is not your only option.

With a valid Michigan marriage license, an authorized wedding officiant, and two witnesses, you can have a legal weekday wedding somewhere that feels warmer and more personal than a government office. It can be as simple as signing your license and being pronounced married, or it can include a short ceremony with vows, rings, a first kiss, and a few people you love.

First, Get Your Oakland County Marriage License
If either of you lives in Oakland County, start with the Oakland County marriage license information. Michigan residents apply in the county where either applicant lives, and the license may then be used anywhere in Michigan. If both of you live outside Michigan, you apply in the county where the wedding will take place, and the license is valid only in that county.

Oakland County currently lists a $20 fee for Michigan residents and a $30 fee for out-of-state couples. Michigan law generally includes a three-day waiting period, and the license becomes void if the marriage does not take place within 33 days after the application. Always confirm the current pickup process, documents, fees, and dates directly with the county before making your wedding plans.

Once you have the blank license in hand, you are ready to choose how you want to get married.

Option 1: A Quick Sign & Go Wedding
Sign & Go is for the couple who truly wants to keep it simple. There is no formal wedding ceremony and no need to plan decorations, music, or a guest list.

You and your partner meet me at my Holly, Michigan office—also known as a cute local coffee shop—with your valid marriage license, photo identification, and two witnesses over 18. I guide everyone through the legal signing, perform the required legal portion, and pronounce you married.

The appointment usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Sign & Go is $150 and is offered Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments outside those hours may have an additional fee.

This is a wonderful fit if you are planning a larger celebration later, getting married before a move or deployment, combining finances or insurance, or simply feeling ready to be married now.

Option 2: A Short Sign & I Do Ceremony
If you want the simplicity of a courthouse wedding but still want the moment to feel like a wedding, Sign & I Do may be the better choice.

This is a short, meaningful ceremony for the two of you and up to about 12 guests. You can exchange vows and rings, share your first kiss, take a few photos, and leave officially married—without turning the day into a traditional wedding production.
Sign & I Do is $275 and is offered Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ceremonies are often held at a local park or small venue, depending on the location, reservation requirements, and my availability.

Why an Oakland County Weekday Wedding Works So Well
A weekday wedding is not a lesser version of a “real” wedding. For many couples, it is the version that feels most like them.

You can keep the guest list small, spend less, avoid crowded weekend schedules, and celebrate afterward with lunch, dinner, or a quiet day together. Couples come to me from Holly, Clarkston, Waterford, White Lake, Highland, Milford, Pontiac, and communities throughout Oakland County because they want the legal ease of a courthouse wedding without the courthouse feeling.

You do not have to make your wedding bigger to make it meaningful. You simply need to choose the experience that feels right for the two of you.

Already Have Your Marriage License? Let’s Get You Married
If your Oakland County marriage license is already in hand—or you know when you will pick it up—you can inquire with me now. Include your preferred date, the city where you would like to meet, and whether you want Sign & Go or Sign & I Do.

If I have a weekday opening, we can keep this simple and get your wedding on the calendar.
